Let there be blog

I'm not sure who Wolfgang von Goethe was (though he sounds like some jerk I probably went to college with), but, my Aunt sent me this quote and I decided I like it. We were discussing the pros and cons of attending pastry school in the fall one afternoon at the beach. Later on she emailed me this quote; a kind, intellectual nudge away from indecision with undertones of 'if this is the biggest problem in your life right now, you have it pretty good, kid'. 


Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm doing anything earth-shattering here by starting a blog.  I don't read blogs. Hell, I can barely use a computer (an ironic fact, given my day job). Nor do I think that anyone's daily musings can be all that entertaining, especially when all I've written for the last 3 years are online text ads consisting of 95 characters.


But, as soon as I heard my 60 yr old baking instructor tell me to 'use the tip to fill the hole with cream', I knew that if I was going to commit to a 16-week, 325 hour professional pastry certificate, there would be more opportunities to chronicle this adventure. Moreover, my posting of food photos on Facebook was getting a little weird even for me.


So here I am. I'll be writing my way through pastry school, and showing you my baked goods along the way. Don't expect to find 'low fat' or 'vegan' anywhere here. Instead, expect some delicious desserts and pastries, with a side of snarky observation.

  1. how could such a great pun NOT inspire a blog? the food looks beyond amazing - can't wait to see, hear and maybe someday taste more!
